Horses competing in any of the shows will accrue points. The points will be awarded on the following basis:
| Shows 1 – 5 | Champion | 10 points |
| Reserve Champion | 8 | |
| 1st in class | 5 | |
| 2nd in class | 3 | |
| 3rd in class | 2 |
Horses can not accrue more than one type of point for each show. For example, if a horse is placed first in its class, it would be awarded 5 points. If that horse is then named champion for the show, it forfeits the class points and is awarded the 10 points for Champion. Double points will be awarded for the final show (Dubai).
For horses to be eligible to be the winner of the Dubai Gold Cup, the horse will have to compete in the Dubai International Arabian Horse Championship.
The Dubai Gold Cup series is open to all horses eligible to enter any of the above listed shows. Points are awarded to the horse and if ownership changes this will not affect the horse’s eligibility for the prize.
Prizes will be awarded in four categories:
Rules and point accrual will be administered by the organiser of the Dubai International Arabian Horse Championship.
The number of shows participating in the series may increase or decease at the discretion of the Higher Organising Committee of the Dubai International Arabian Horse Championship.
In the event of a tie for first place, the horse with the most points gained as a Champion at the five shows will be named the winner.
If there is still a tie after this calculation, the horse with the most points as Reserve Champion, at the five shows, will be named the winner.
In the case there is still a tie, the horse with the most points as winner of its respective class at the five shows, will be named the winner.
In the Dubai Gold Cup series year, the category in which a horse has compete in, at the last Dubai Gold Cup series show prior to the 31st December, will determine the category for which all points will be accumulated.
