DUBAI GOLD CUP

The 2009 was the final year for the series ‘Dubai Gold Cup’ and Dubai International Arabian Horse Championship is now an ECAHO ‘Title Show’.

The Higher Organising Committee of the Dubai International Arabian Horse Championship has announced the inception of the Dubai Gold Cup, an international series for Arabian Horse Shows. The series will consist of select Arabian horse shows throughout Europe affiliated with ECAHO (European Conference of Arabian Horse Organisations) with the final show being held in Dubai in March 2009. Horses will gain points through competing at the select shows and if they in turn compete in Dubai they will be eligible to win a generous prize. Prizes will be awarded to the horse with highest points accumulated for the four categories - fillies, colts, mares & stallions.

Arabian Horse Shows Participating

  1. Championship de la Mediterannee, Menton, France
  2. Hasselt-El-Ran Cup, Belgium
  3. U.K.I.A.H.S. Towerlands, United Kingdom
  4. Qatar International Purebred Arabian Horse Show, Doha, Qatar
  5. Dubai International Arabian Horse Championship, Dubai, UAE

Rules

Horses competing in any of the shows will accrue points. The points will be awarded on the following basis:

Shows 1 – 5Champion10 points
 Reserve Champion8
 1st in class5
 2nd in class3
 3rd in class2

Horses can not accrue more than one type of point for each show. For example, if a horse is placed first in its class, it would be awarded 5 points. If that horse is then named champion for the show, it forfeits the class points and is awarded the 10 points for Champion. Double points will be awarded for the final show (Dubai).

For horses to be eligible to be the winner of the Dubai Gold Cup, the horse will have to compete in the Dubai International Arabian Horse Championship.

The Dubai Gold Cup series is open to all horses eligible to enter any of the above listed shows. Points are awarded to the horse and if ownership changes this will not affect the horse’s eligibility for the prize.

Prizes will be awarded in four categories:

  1. Dubai Gold Cup    Senior Male
  2. Dubai Gold Cup    Senior Female
  3. Dubai Gold Cup    Junior Male
  4. Dubai Gold Cup    Junior Female

Rules and point accrual will be administered by the organiser of the Dubai International Arabian Horse Championship.

The number of shows participating in the series may increase or decease at the discretion of the Higher Organising Committee of the Dubai International Arabian Horse Championship.

Ties

In the event of a tie for first place, the horse with the most points gained as a Champion at the five shows will be named the winner.

If there is still a tie after this calculation, the horse with the most points as Reserve Champion, at the five shows, will be named the winner.

In the case there is still a tie, the horse with the most points as winner of its respective class at the five shows, will be named the winner.

Determination of Category

In the Dubai Gold Cup series year, the category in which a horse has compete in, at the last Dubai Gold Cup series show prior to the 31st December, will determine the category for which all points will be accumulated.
